Business Challenge:
The scope of the DocuBuilder 4.0 is to allow clients to create; view and edit the fund documents as per guidelines from the Securities and Exchange Commission. This is a re-engineering project of the DocuBuilder 3.1 with newer technology and enhanced features. The business challenges faced are:
- Content Management:
Update text or data in one central location and associate information to multiple documents, while preserving the integrity of the source data.
- Document Workflow Simplification:
Edit a component and immediately update all related documents in a matter of seconds. Produce various output styles with a single click of the mouse.
- Time-Critical Communications:
Make last-minute edits and quickly produce proofs in multiple formats (print-ready, web-ready, EDGAR, HTML, etc.). Render a file-ready document in a matter of minutes.
- Marketing/Compliance Integration:
Maintain an audit history of text and data edits at both the component level and document level. Preserve information and branding consistency across all documents.

Solution:
The need of creating DocuBuilder 4.0 was due to the inhibitions of the previous version of the application to provide simple and user-friendly interface. The previous application also lacked few features in the business side which needed to be inculcated and hence needed a re-engineering of the application. The new proposed version will be built using the latest technology and a robust architecture to make the application more scalable and flexible for further enhancements in the business perspective. The solution provided was the use of new technologies like DHTMLX 2.1 to improve the interface and user friendliness of the application.

Benefits of Solution:
The main motive behind creating DocuBuilder 4.0 was to overcome the drawbacks of the previous version and generate a simple and user-friendly interface. The new technology used like DHTMLX 2.1 provided the much needed support with its various components like Grid, Tree, Calendar, ColorPicker, Tabbar, etc. DHTMLX is a full set of Ajax components for building Web UI with extended functionality they help in developing or enhancing UI of the application at a very competitive rate. The use of DHTMLX has improved the speed and performance of the entire application to a greater extent. The benefits the components provided are described below:
- dhtmlxTree: dhtmlxTree is a feature rich JavaScript tree menu that allows you to effortlessly create attractive and fast-loading hierarchical interfaces with cross-browser compatibility, AJAX support, in-line node editing, and drag-n-drop capabilities.
- dhtmlxGrid:dhtmlxGrid is an Ajax-enabled JavaScript grid control with cutting-edge functionality, powerful data binding, and excellent performance with large datasets. The grid view component is easy-to-use and provides great flexibility due to its rich client-side API. dhtmlxGrid supports different datasources, including XML, JSON, CSV, JS array, and HTML table. Since v1.6 grid data can be loaded from custom XML format.
- dhtmlxTabbar: dhtmlxTabbar is a JavaScript tabbar control for creating dynamic tabbed-navigation interface. This Ajax-enabled UI component lets you add feature-rich and nice looking tabs to your site or web application. The control can be easily initialized on a web page that makes building of DHTML tabbed interface a breeze.
